Interview Question in Stored Procedures

Interview Question :: You buy a red-bellied newt from a local pet store. You know that red-bellied (R) is dominant to yellow-bellied

If you don’t know what the parents of your red-bellied newt look like, what can you do to determine the genotype of your pet?

a) Name the procedure (it is described the Monohybrid Cross (9.3) activity – it is used when trying to determine the genotype of an individual with a dominant phenotype but unknown genotype).

b) Show the 2 possible crosses, and provide the phenotypic ratios (be certain to include the color with each number) that will result from these crosses.

if were talking about cynop species here the yellow belly is caused by a captive diet from birth rather than a colour morph.

this is infact sounding more like a "made up" question from a homework assignment. my answer to this is: read monohybrid cross section 9.3

B: i have no idea

The book I read suggested that yellow bellies on fire bellied newts has to do with the diet of the animal when it is in the early development stages.

Both the parents of our young fire belly had red bellies and their only surviving offspring has a red belly.
