Interview Question :: What is the scope of shifting field from .Net technology to a DBA ?do MNC;s hire DBA;s without experience


I want to do a certification as Data Base Administrator in Oracle /SQL (if it is there). So if i complete one , will it be easy to get placed ? currently i am working in an MNC in .Net and SQL server 2000 and have nearly 2 years of experince.Now i think i am more interested in database. if i need to join any company as DBA can i join as experienced person?or again do i need to start as a fresher? Please help.

Most employers (in the US, anyway) want DBAs to have at least a bachelor's degree in computer science and 5 years' experience with the given RDBMS they will administer.

Do you have a BS in Computer Science? DBA's are or SHOULD be very well versed in both programming AND database design. Few are, and that's a problem smart companies are trying to solve by hiring more qualified DBA's (if they need DBA's at all).
