Interview Question in SQL Server Administration

Interview Question :: At 54 Do I have time to learn Linux

I am preparing myself to pass 1 test certification for SQl Server 2005. I always want to pass a MCP Server 2003. After that I am expecting to apply for a System Administration job. I am practicing with a lab at home. I have a few years of PC experience. Do you guys think that I have time to learn some linux? Will it look good during my interviews? I don't want to become a linux administrator, just a System Administrator(Windows) or DBA later. Thanks.

Ubuntu server to start.

Debian is a great learning tool -- and costs nothing.

Of course. I decided to start learning it at 60. It is good to keep learning new things and perspective employers will be impressed.

Getting started with Linux isn't too difficult. Learning Linux gives you interesting insights into operating systems in general. You will learn how operating systems work.

Ubuntu is considered to be the best Linux distribution for beginners. I'd start with that. Just play around with it for a while !
