Hello,

Lots of people are like that - that's why the world isn't filled with medical doctors or certified network engineers! Don't let your past experience be your excuse here and now.

You are talking about a lifestyle change. Think how hard it is for a smoker or a fat person to change their life styles - that's the kind of change you're talking about for yourself.

You need to break the big job into little pieces. Dieters find success sometimes by partnering up with someone - maybe you can find a study partner and meet to study at regular times.

The fact that you want to change is going to give you motivation to do it.

You're not that far away from your goal - so get started (which is the hardest part)!

You may want to do some brain exercises. Might sound silly, but it works. I have a Nintendo DS and after using the brain age game, I was much sharper at work. Here is some info:

There are small things you can do like trying to do some math problems as quickly as you can or trying to read billboards and road signs completely before you pass them. You have to challenge your brain.

Other than that, so something that teaches discipline. Then maybe focusing will be easier.

Hope this helps.

Stay focused on how happy you will feel when you have this new career. Try different styles of learning. You may be more visual, auditory, or kinestetic. Find out if you learn better by listening, watching, reading or doing. Then translate the information into what works best for you. Change the thought that you HAVE to study into thinking of it as a stepping stone to what you want. Good luck.

First of all you are not a loser.

That is some stigma that society may try to impose on us.

Life is a journey and it's not always bright and rosy.

There are storms.

But with this variation the opportunities come for growth and learning.

Focus comes a lot easier when you find something you really love. It sounds like this sqi server stuff you are studying is not too exciting for you.... and if that is the case.... look for something else.

You are not too old.

Colonel Sanders at the age of 65 started shopping around a unique fried chicken recipe to a bunch of restuarants. Nobody bought so he started asking people for help to start up his own joint. Somehow, when you really believe in something, doors open up. Anyway, he got a little backing and his place start to grow. And he just said, let's keep making more restuarants. And KFC became a huge bizness.
