when my laptop updates it is constantly finding 2 security updates, they seem to install but the next time it updates, it finds the same update's etc....these are the updates im talking about.

any idea's why??

I am seriously disappointed with Vista. As a .Net guy, I've run into some problems. SQL Server Express doesn't run on Vista (but it did on XP). I downloaded the SSE Service Pack 2, and I still ran into errors. Also, my good old Access 2000 is no good, from what I here. So then I tried to download MySQL 5.0, and it didn't install, as well.

This sucks because all of the above work fine on XP. My desktop is XP, but my laptop is VIsta. It looks like I might have to dual boot XP and Vista on my laptop to continue to be productive.

However, I have been seriously considering making the jump to LAMP. I'm tired of every time Microsoft comes out with something new it screws up everything else. You think I want to pay for Access 2007 when Access 2000 was just fine for my needs?

Anybody else been perturbed with Vista as a developer?

am trying to run a page in asp.net(C#) which is connected to a database located on a server(LAN), it was running normaly, but when i installed sqlserver service pack 3 on the server, i got this error:
Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
i tryed to uninstall the sp3, Or install sp4, i checked all the securitys, every thing is okay but still not working, can any body help me plzzzzzzzzzzzz

so i downloaded dotnetfw.exe then want to install it. But i always got an error

however, when i try to install MS Installer 3.1, unfortunately i got another error

I bought the book Visual C# 2008 by John Sharp and it says I should have:

-Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, Windows Vista Business Edition, or Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.

-Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition, Visual Studio 2008 Enterprise Edition, or Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition and Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition.

-Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, Service Pack 2

i just crashed my computer and installed windows and my drivers but i am having a few problems.
Before i crashed my computer i had hotfix and all this wondows stuff on my computer that i dont have now and everytime i try to down load hotfix and window stuff its eather the wrong thing or it tells me i dont have msvcr71.dll and i need to reinstall it than i go to try to reinstall it but it only unzips and i try to install it after it unzips the file i go to open it and all it is is a notebad telling you about it i need the software and before that it would tell me i needed sql servers and than for hotfix stuff it would tell me i needed 2.5 service pack 2 or 2.7 sp 1 or 2.5 sp3 or mdac 2.8 but when i try to install sp2 or sp1 or sp3 it tells me i have already got it but when i try to download the hotfix it tells me i dont than i go to instal the sql servers or mdac it tells me i have to reinstall msvcr71.dll but i cant get that to install i need to know what to do here im confussed?

I am using crystal report 8.5 installed with the following patches:

3. dbexdrvrwin_en- DBEXDRVRWIN_EN_200401.EXE

I am using the crystal report for an application with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 service pack 6 installed and Microsoft Sql server 2000 service pack 4 installed with the machine having operating system Windows XP Professional Service pack 2 installed.

The SQL Server 2000 Database collation has been set to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.

problem in three scenatiros explained::

1.When i query from database - sql query analyzer, the data stored in database appears in arabic but when i view the crystal report, the data appears in ?????????? something like this. (database displays correctly and crystal report displays incorrectly on manually opening the report)

2.Similarily, when i entered data in arabic from vb application, the data is stored in some junk format (probably unicode), this data in the crystal report shows the current entered data in arabic correctly. (database displays incorrectly and crystal report displays correctly on manually opening the report)

3. But when i view the crystal report through my VB application, the crystal report for arabic column was garbled or overwritten for the data that was entered in arabic in step 2. while all the previous data in database that shows arabic in database is shown as ??????? in the crystal report.

I even tried installing with the service pack 3 - cr85win_en_sp3.exe. i also have arabic fonts installed, regional settings and language inputs also available for english UAE and arabic.

I want to install Dotnetnuke on IIS 6.0 to manage my internet hosting business.

I keep getting service pack 4 which says it requires 7.0 to be installed first.(obviously).
Feeling foolish,:( how do I download mysql server from their site?
