I am 47 and thinking learning SQL Server 2005. But I was wondering if learning some Flash/Flex/Acti9onscript could make me more marketable instead? I have no degree and I believe a SQL Server 2005 might be more picky when it comes to credentials?
Can anyone recommend any utilities for importing CSV or fixed width text file into SQL Server. I'm looking for something that makes a better job of it than Enterprise Manager or Management Studio. I've tried Import Wizard from Beside Software but found it a bit clunky, and wonder if there's anything better available.

I read the job offers for Oracle DBA they are requiring a lot of experience and certs and degrees. SQL Server 2005 ads seems to be not as demanding when it comes to credentials. If I go for SQL server do you think I make a good decision?
I am begining the career with sharepoint, but confuse between sharepoint and SQL server. which has better job prospects and future. is most of sharepoint development being outsourced?
I was told to learn SQL Server 2005 first then apply for a small contract job. Then learning Mysql. Do you guys think that I should learn both then apply? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
If you know the basics of SQL, sql server programming won't take to long. As mentioned above, 6 months is a enough time to be a decent programmer. Maybe even 3 months of practice.
Question about SQL Server 2005?
If I spend 28 hours per week to study SQL server 2005 with
a lab to replicate the real time & hand on exercises etc..
After 6 months of study & practice(lab) that will be close to 672 hours. Can I apply for a job & have change to get an entry level position as DBA assistant? Should I go for Oracle or SQL Server 2005? Thanks for your feedbacks
i had set-up this batch job to run in ms sql server last july. since then it has been running ok in the server then suddenly it ran infinitely yesterday so i had to terminate the batch job. Can anyone give me a clue as to what suddenly happened?
What are my chances to find a job? I am 46 and started learning SQL Server 2005 1 week ago. Should I give up? Or be positive and apply in 1 or 2 years?
