This is my first year for BSC.IT, from (Karrox Technologies, Mumbai) affiliated from Sikkim Manipal University, 1st semester course content i.e. Data Structure Using C, SQL Server Concept & DBMS, VB, Linux etc. But I want to boost my talent with some other courses in Software Industry.

Could any one suggest me, Should I go for Java certifications i.e SCJA, SCJP or DBA Oracle, MCPD, MCAD & MCDBA etc.

Thank in advance
I have a B.S. degree in Computer Science from several years ago, but no real work experience in programming for MS Windows.
I am taking a certification class in Visual Basic .NET, and will be taking several more in .NET ADO, .NET ASP, and SQL Server 2000. I have some experience in C/C++, but not for Windows programming. Do most companies expect me to know ALL of Windows programming? Because .NET insulates you from having to know the Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC), or even the Win 32 API. Are companies expecting me to know Visual C++ or Visual C#? I guess it depends on the company, but I'm looking for answers from people who have worked in a Windows programing environment. Thank you so much.
How much time does it take to learn .net ? Currently i am working in asp and sql server projects. Is it possible within 2 months ? I'd to move to .net and do certification on that. Anyone suggest me please ????? Thanks in advance.
I didn't do too well at school and have since flunked out of college too. I was thinking of getting a Microsoft certification so I can get an entry level IT job, in support maybe, and work my way up the ladder. I'm not sure, however, which certification I should go for (if any.) An MCDST looks suitable for my needs but there are all these "new generation" MCTS ones available now. I'm seeing considerably less jobs asking for MCTSs though, especially at entry level (I've seen none of those.) I've also noticed that they are a lot more specialised ,and think it would be hard to choose a route as I don't know which will offer me the best prospects and which wouldn't offer me any. I am interested in the following; SQL Server 2005, Windows Server 2003 (Configuration and Management), or Vista and Office (Deploying and Maintaining). I would consider any, or even non MS routes but I'd definately like to start a career in IT as it is one of my passions. Thanks.
Im doing a project using SQL server 2000 and .NET 2003 (C#)

and i have this irritating problem :

In one of the tables, there is a column (Certification Type) which is a foreign key from Certifications table

The CertificationsType column is an Integer ... but i dont want the user to get to choose numbers from the Certification Type ComboBox , i want instead strings to appear in the combo box....

To sum up : I have a combobox that is supposed to carry int values, but i want instead strings to appear (and each string would refrence to a corresponding int value).
have been debating myself on how & where to start?
I am 49 years old and I need to start where I can get a job
quickly. I check Linux/Unix well they all require 4 to 6 years of experience in order to consider you. Meaning if I learn linux nobody will hire me. I look at SQL Server DBa same thing , even if I get a certifications my chances at 49 without any experience are slim to get into that field. I was thinking about ASP.NET and the Web Development in general. What do you guys will recommend me to at least get my feet into the field?? After that I will learn more but I need to get in. Thanks for your recommendations guys.
Looking at this page: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mc...

Which should I be learning 1.1 or 2.0? What's the difference between these?

I plan on learning ASP.Net and Visual Basic .net & SQL Server to upgrade my regular ASP & MSAccess knowledge.

Am I looking at the right certification that employers might seek, and which would be best 1.1 or 2.0?

Any info about web learning courses versus instructor led?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am certified in 70-316(developing Windows appln in C#.NET1.1).
I want to proceed further in windows development of .NET.How should I go about this and get MCPD/MCTS!?

1)Should I have to finish two other exams(Web services, SQL server) to become a MCAD, then write the upgrade certification 70-552 to get MCPD

2)Should I get certified in MCTS(windows appln development which has 2 exams) then become MCPD: Windows Developer by writing additional 70-548

Kindly advice me.

I want to do a certification as Data Base Administrator in Oracle /SQL (if it is there). So if i complete one , will it be easy to get placed ? currently i am working in an MNC in .Net and SQL server 2000 and have nearly 2 years of experince. Now i think i am more interested in database. if i need to join any company as DBA can i join as experienced person?or again do i need to start as a fresher? Please help.
What skills are in the most demand or in emerging demand?

There are so many certifications available, I really don't know which to choose.

I'm interested in advancing my career through certification in computer skills, but I'm not sure which certifications will lead to the best opportunities. I have a broad general interest in all aspects of computer science...I've thought about being a programmer, but right now I'm leaning more towards DBA, or DB programmer.

So which skills are most marketable?

There's a course available in my area soon on Microsoft SQL Server. Is that a good choice?

Which certifications are most likely to lead to employment opportunities?

Any answers from people knowledgable about the field, or those who have gotten certifications themselves, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
